iOS 4.0.2 Released, Patches Jailbreakme.com Security Hole

Apple has just release iOS 4.0.2, which a security update to patch the PDF exploit used on jailbreakme.com. An iPad update, iOS 3.2.2 was also released to patch tis on the iPad. There are no other significant changes in the updates, although the firmware file is much larger.

iPhone 4 Unlock is Here

The iPhone Dev team has released the latest version of their Ultasn0w software which allows you to unlock your jailbroken iPhone 4 on iOS 4 and 4.01. This same software also unlocks the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS on all basebands.

Planetbeing, a member of the iPhone Dev Team has announced that the updated version of the software unlock Ultrasn0w will be released within 48 hours. The software is complete, however they want to run some extra testing with the new public jailbreak before releasing the update.

Jailbreaking Is Now 100% Legal In The United States

Today, jailbreak became totally legal in the United States. Thanks to the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) convincing the Library of Congress, jailbreaking is now explicitly permitted in the DCMA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act).

iOS 4.1 Features

We previously reported that Apple launches iOS 4.1 and iPhone SDK 4.1 to developers. At the time the changes in the update were unknown, but now we have a few details. The most prominent update is of course the changes in the signal bars, as Apple previously described.

Video of Unlocked iPhone 4

planetbeing has posted a YouTube video demonstrating the iPhone 4 unlock that was announced earlier today. He mentions in the video that the unlock is not yet finished and needs to be cleaned up before launched to the public. The video explains that the iPhone Dev Team has found several ways to counterattack Apple’s attempts against unlocking.
