iOS 4.1 Features

We previously reported that Apple launches iOS 4.1 and iPhone SDK 4.1 to developers. At the time the changes in the update were unknown, but now we have a few details. The most prominent update is of course the changes in the signal bars, as Apple previously described.

Apple has just released iOS 4.1 and iPhone SDK 4.1 beta to registered developers. There is no word to what changes the updated iOS 4.1 brings, other than we are assuming the iPhone 4 signal fix is included in this update. We do know that app developers will need to ensure compatibility with this update, so it must bring some major changes.

iPhone OS 4 Beta 4 Rolls Out

Apple has rolled out a new beta version of the 4.0 firmware along with an update to the iPhone SDK. The change that is getting the most talk is that Apple added 18 new wallpapers in this beta. They are much like the ones already available, but they add some variety. Another change, is that Clock, Calculator, and Voice Memo’s is automatically in a ‘Utilities’ folder when you start the iPhone for the first time.

iPhone OS 4 beta 3 now available for developers

Continuing their two-week cycle, Apple has just released iPhone OS 4 beta 3 and the SDK for developers. You can download it now via developer.apple.com. There are two major changes in this beta version and both have to do with multitaskings.

iPhone SDK 4.0 Beta 2 Now Available

Yesterday, Apple released iPhone OS 4 SDK beta 2 on developer.apple.com for developers. This seems to be following the two week schedule, which means we will be seeing a lot of beta versions before the final 4.0. This new SDK beta includes the beta firmware for iPhone.

Tons of iChat References

9to5Mac has found tons of references to iChat in the latest iPone SDK. This obviously suggests that iChat will become a feature in firmware 4.0. Some strings that were found in the SDK reference moderators, chat room, encryption, and more.
