Xcode 4 Preview 3 Now Available to Developers

Apple has just released the third preview version of Xcode 4, a code writing software used for developing parts of apps (and other things, like websites and Dashboard widgets). New features include a new activity interface for developers as well as a completely fresh user-interface for the new code completion technologies in Xcode 4. Some bug fixes were also tossed into this update.

Apple Seeds iOS 4.1 GM to Developers

Apple has released the gold master, or final version of iOS 4.1 to registered app developers. This update will be available to the public next week, but this gives developers a head start in ensuring their apps are working on the final version of iOS 4.1.

iOS 4.2 Coming in November to iPad

iOS 4.2 will be coming in november to the iPad, brining all the features of iOS 4.1 and more. This free update will also bring wireless printing and AirPlay, which replaces airtunes and adds streaming video and pictures.

Apple Announces Volume Purchase Program For Education

Apple has sent our a notice to developers, giving them the option to offer their apps at a 50% discount to education institutions. Along with the discounts, Apple has created a value purchase program that allows education institutions to buy a large amount of licenses.

iAds now let developers sell their apps on App Store within-an-ad

A new addition to iAds allows developers to sell their Apps directly from iAds, bypassing the App Store altogether. The ad is basically the equivalent of an App Store page. An added bonus: Developers can use the money/credit they earn in iAds to promote their apps in this way. This also helps Apple fill iAds ad slots, which we’ve been hearing are seeing low fill rates.
