1 Million Users on Ping in Just 48 Hours

Apple has announced that 1 million users have registered on their new social network for music Ping. More impressively, the 1 million accounts were made within 48 hours of the service being available.

No More Creating Your Own RIngtones in iTunes 10

Apple has cut-off their create your own ringtone feature in iTunes 10 that they launched alongside the first iPhone back in 2007. This feature allowed users to trim a song they already bought for $.99 (or $1.29) and trim that song, then purchase the ringtone for another $.99.

iTunes 10 and Ping Social Network for Music

iTunes 10 was announced today along with a new social network Apple created just for music. The first change in iTune 10 mentioned was the new icon. Apple ditched the CD in their icon since it’s dead technology, where digital music is overtaking it. iTunes 10 also includes a new streamlined interface to find and browse through music easier and faster.

 

Apple Annual Music Event Being Held September 1, 2010

Apple has just started sending out invitations for their annual music event which will be held on September 1, 2010. Apple typically updates their line of iPods at this event and this year is expected to be no different. iTunes announcements are also common at this event.

iTunes Accounts Hacked

A small number of iTunes accounts were recently hacked by an app developer named mycompany. The developer was using the compromised accounts to make unauthorized purchases of their book apps on the App Store, to artificially increase sales. The accounts were also reportedly used to author fake reviews and ratings.
